Meghana Prakash is a self-taught polymer clay jewellery designer who started crafting as a hobby, alongside quilling. What began as a weekend passion evolved into a full-time profession two years ago. Meghana was drawn to polymer clay for its pliability and versatility, which allowed her to experiment with diverse designs. โItโs a new medium, and learning resources are limited, so I discovered its potential through trial, error, and YouTube tutorials,โ she explains. Her diploma in jewellery design Jd institute of fashion technology, Bangalore also helps refine her creative process and articulate her designs effectively.
When asked about the most challenging aspect of her work, Meghana reveals, โFor me, itโs the design phase. Once thatโs clear, everything flows smoothly. I work primarily with my fingers, as it helps me control pressure and shapes more precisely, using tools only when necessary.โ Her hands-on approach highlights the artistry and meticulous effort behind her creations.

Polymer clay products are baked to enhance their durability, making them both drop-proof and slightly flexible. Meghana, who works from her home studio in Bengaluru, is a regular at events, including Comic Con, where her jewelleryโparticularly her floral earring collectionโis sought after. Her product catalogue features earrings, hair clips, pendants, fridge magnets (custom orders), and lapel pins.
โFloral designs always draw attention,โ Meghana shares. โWhile my work is delicate, itโs not micro art, which intrigues visitors and often turns them into buyers.โ Her creations reflect a balance of intricacy and durability, making them both beautiful and practical.

The vibrant colours in her products come directly from coloured clay, with no external paints used. However, for custom colour requests, Meghana explains, โWe work with clay colour combinations to achieve the desired shade, which requires a solid understanding of colour profiles.โ Her expertise in colour blending ensures that each piece is tailored to perfection.
