Current Seismic Activity In India

This Assam earthquake comes after another recent Indian seismicity event. An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred in Rajasthan’s Churu region on Sunday, 17th August 2025. The tremor had taken place around 5:30 PM and had its epicentre at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. The Rajasthan quake coordinates were 7.56 Latitude and 74.01 Longitude.

India’s north-eastern belt, comprising Assam, is seismically active because it falls within a tectonically active region. The NCS keeps a constant watch on seismic activity throughout the country to offer early warnings and estimate probable dangers.
