Maharashtra: 4 Dead In Gas Leak At Pharmaceutical Company In Palghar; Probe Underway

In the Boisar police station limits of Palghar district in Maharashtra, four individuals died after suspected suffocation in a pharma factory, Medley Pharma. Furthermore, Palghar Police told ANI that six people were found severely affected by the suspected nitrogen leak. They were rushed to the nearest hospital, where four people were declared dead and two are under treatment in the ICU.

Citing Palghar Police, ANI reported that the process of registering a case has begun by taking statements of the witnesses.

Mangaluru Toxic Gas Leak 

Two people died following a toxic gas leak at the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) on Saturday in Karnataka’s Mangaluru district, IANS reported on July 12. 

The incident occurred in the Oil Movement Section (OMS) of the MRPL unit, which is located on the outskirts of Mangaluru in Suratkal.

The deceased were identified as Deep Chandra Bharatiya and Bijli Prasad. 

According to IANS, the employees had gone to inspect a malfunction in the Oil Movement Section. Deep Chandra Bharatiya and Bijli Prasad had climbed to the top of the tank for inspection when they suddenly fell ill. They were immediately rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru, but both were declared dead on arrival.

MP Incident

In a separate incident, two people died after allegedly inhaling toxic gas emanating from a well in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh.  

Three others who were rescued alive from the well were admitted to a government hospital. The incident occurred in Dharnawala village, around 30 km from the district headquarters of Guna. They had descended into the well to rescue a calf that had fallen in, according to IANS, police said.
