Delhi Weather Update: A fresh spell of overnight showers has brought relief to Delhiites as they woke up to a pleasant weather on Monday. Intermittent rain continued throughout the night, with more showers lashing the national capital in the morning. Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR), including areas like Baba Khadak Singh Marg, ITO, and the Yamuna River. The India Meteorological Department said that minimum temperatures in the national capital are in the range of 23-26°C and the maximum temperatures were in the range of 32-33°C.
IMD Rainfall Forecast For Delhi: ‘Yellow Alert’
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the day predicting more showers in Delhi during the day. The met department has also warned of light showers and thunderstorms across the national capital and nearby cities. The IMD has forecast showers in Delhi til August 30. “Generally cloudy sky, possibility of very light to light rain/thundershowers,” said the IMD in its bulletin.
The weather office has predicted that spells of rain are likely to continue through the day, potentially affecting traffic in several parts of the capital. In an early morning update posted on X (formerly Twitter) at 6:22 am, the Regional Meteorological Centre, New Delhi, said light to moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning were expected across Delhi and the NCR.
Delhi Temperature
According to the IMD, the minimum temperatures are below normal by 1-3°C and maximum temperatures were below normal by 1-3°C over Delhi. “North easterly winds prevailed with wind speed up to 19 kmph gusting to 46 kmph in the past 24 hours over Delhi,” said the IMD on Sunday.
Delhi Flights Affected
Rainy weather also disrupted air travel, with SpiceJet issuing an advisory cautioning passengers that heavy showers in Delhi could lead to delays in both departures and arrivals. “Due to bad weather in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status,” said the SpiceJet.
Indigo also issued an advisory for the fliers. “Due to today’s downpour, several roads across Delhi are currently blocked or experiencing slow movement. Please allow extra time, take an alternate route if possible, and check your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport. Our teams are working to keep things on track and support your journey. Thank you for continued trust and patience,” it said on X.
Air India also cautioned fliers saying, “Rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today. Please check your flight status before heading to the airport and allow extra time for your journey to the airport.”

Sunday’s Showers Of Relief
Sunday’s showers led to a dip in temperatures, with the maximum settling at 32.6 degrees Celsius — about two degrees below the season’s average and 2.5 degrees lower than Saturday. According to the IMD, humidity levels fluctuated between 77% and 100%, while the minimum temperature dropped to 23.4 degrees Celsius, around three degrees below normal.
