The person who was detained, whose name has been revealed as Ashwini Kumar, is a 51-year-old astrologer who had been residing in Noida for five years. The reason for making the threat was a personal grudge against a friend named Firoz, police said. Ashwini Kumar sent the threatening WhatsApp message under the name Firoz to “frame” him, in retaliation for the case he had lodged against him in Patna in 2023, resulting in Ashwini being awarded a three-month jail sentence. Police have confiscated his phone and SIM card and are taking him to Mumbai for further inquiry.

Details Of The Threat Message

The message was received on the official WhatsApp number of Mumbai Traffic Police and asserted that 14 Pakistani terrorists belonging to an outfit called “Lashkar-e-Jihadi” had infiltrated India. The message went on to state that 400 kg of RDX had been detonated in 34 “human bombs” throughout the city. The timing of the message, a day before the huge Ganesh Visarjan processions, resulted in a city-wide high alert and increased security measures. The threat has been confirmed by the police not to be credible but was included in a personal conflict.
