Karur Stampede Incident
The stampede occurred on Saturday evening during Vijay’s political rally in Karur and claimed at least 39 lives, including several children, and left over 95 people injured. The tragedy occurred when panic and overcrowding broke out during Vijay’s address, leading to mass fainting and chaos.
Officials said the stampede began around 7:30 pm, shortly after Vijay started speaking atop his campaign vehicle. As people collapsed in the dense crowd, which included many women and children, Vijay tried to calm the gathering, distributed water bottles to those fainting, and urged police intervention before ending his speech as the situation worsened.
