New Zealand bowled out India for 245 in the second innings to wrap up a 113-run victory on day three of their second test in Pune on Saturday (October 26, 2024) and win the three-match series 2-0.
Itโs taken them seven decades but the Black Caps finally have a series win in India! And itโs in an emphatic manner, with a dominant show for the second consecutive week.
Indiaโs 12-year-long unbeaten series record at home has been broken. The World Test Championship final spot is in jeopardy and they have lots of questions to ponder over before heading to Mumbai for the Diwali Test!
New Zealandโs Mitchell Santner was declared the man-of-the-match for his 13-wicket haul and useful runs with the bat in the first innings.

Despite the heavy defeat India stays on top in the WTC table with 98 points but their percentage points (62.82) got hit badly as Australia are now marginally behind at 62.50.
Before travelling to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, it was imperative for India to win the series at home and consolidate their top position to ensure that they make the WTC final.

Indiaโs task has only got tougher now because of the sheer challenge Australia are going to pose before them.

Bowling coach Morne Morkel admitted that the battersโ constant failure to make runs in the first innings is costing the team dear, even as India is in danger of losing the first Test series at home since 2012-13.
