India pacer Jasprit Bumrah gave a “dipping plane” send off to Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf in the Asia Cup 2025 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday.

Bumrah dismissed Rauf for six in the 18th over of Pakistan’s innings, shattering his off stump with a searing delivery. However, it was the Indian pacer’s celebration that stole the spotlight – he mimicked a “plane crashing,” a pointed reply to Rauf’s antics during the Super Fours earlier in the tournament.

Notably, Rauf stirred controversy in the previous Super Fours match of Asia Cup 2025 when he was caught on camera making the same gesture towards Indian fans while fielding on the boundary.

Multiple videos from the stands showed him taunting the crowd, an act widely interpreted as a reference to the military conflict between India and Pakistan earlier in the year. The incident drew sharp criticism and further heightened the emotional intensity of the contest.

On Sunday, Bumrah’s fiery send-off appeared to be payback in kind. Rauf had earlier edged a ball to the boundary in the same over before his stumps were rattled, but there was no mistaking the Indian fast bowler’s intent in the aftermath of the wicket.

ICC’s Action Against Haris Rauf Over His Controversial Gesture

Earlier, Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his controversial gesture in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match against India on September 21, Sunday.

Rauf was reprimanded for breaching ICC’s Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup 2025 match between India-Pakistan in Dubai. According to a Cricbuzz report,  Rauf was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under the Player Code of Conduct.

Notably, the 31-year-old Rauf was fined for his on-field gesture imitating a crashing plane. He was also strongly reprimanded for bringing the game into disrepute. While the exact amount of the fine remains undisclosed, a part of his match fee was docked. Rauf’s gesture was interpreted as a reference to the recent India-Pakistan conflict, with an apparent nod to downed fighter jets.
